Shirley May Zimmerman

Obituary:

Shirley May Zimmerman, 70, of Frederick, Went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. She was the loving wife of Joshua David Zimmerman. They just recently celebrated 45 years of marriage.

Born on December 13, 1953, in Jefferson, MD, she was the daughter of Mary Susan (Stottlemyer) Arvin of Jefferson and the late Albert E. Arvin.

Shirley graduated in 1971 from Brunswick High School. She worked many years as a licensed home daycare provider servicing many local families. She did at Home Daycare to be home for her children. Additionally, she previously worked in the restaurant industry.

She loved her animals, growing plants, watching her soap operas, cross stitching and playing cards, especially Phase 10.

Of all the things Shirley enjoyed in life, being a mother and "Nanny" to her grandchildren brought her the most joy. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by children, Trent D. Zimmerman of Knoxville; Dawn M. Kline of Frederick; Edward J. Zimmerman (Jennifer) of Hagerstown; and Eric D. Zimmerman and wife Ina, of Frederick; six grandchildren, Shannon Kline, Dallas Kline, Payton Zimmerman, Aniston Zimmerman, Peyton Palmer, and Ulrich Vorster; siblings, Kenneth Arvin of Jefferson, and Barbara Smith of Martinsburg, WV; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predeceased by her father and a brother, Ralph Arvin.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick, MD.

A celebration of Shirley's life will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26 from the funeral home chapel with the family receiving friends from 10-11. Officiating will be Pastor Paul Black of Cornerstone Fellowship of Frederick.

Interment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Jefferson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Buddy Project, a organization that refurbishes computers for the disabled and low income by visiting https://www.thebuddyproject.org/. Her son Eric Founded this organization and she was heavily involved.
